How To Receive

GOLIAT uses the radio amateur band to send its telemetry. We would appreciate the help of all the radio amateurs in receiving the packets and relaying them back to us.

GOLIAT transmission details:

  • Packet:
    • Frequency: 437.485 MHz
    • Modulation: AFSK
    • Bitrate: 1200 bps
    • Protocol: AX.25
  • CW
    • Frequency: 437.485 MHz
    • Modulation: CWz
    • Speed: ~20 wpm

These two modulations are used continuously during normal operation period.

  • Field 2: 3 characters maximum (Battery 1 voltage - hex value)
  • Field 3: 3 characters maximum (Battery 2 voltage - hex value)
  • Field 4: 3 characters maximum (DC-DC converter voltage - hex value)
  • Field 5: 3 characters maximum (Solar panel voltage - hex value)
  • Field 6: 8 characters (Time - hex value)
  • Field 7: 4 characters maximum (AMCU reset counter - hex value)
  • Field 8: 4 characters maximum (FMCU reset counter - hex value)
  • Field 9: 4 characters maximum (Beacon MCU reset counter - hex value)
  • Field 10: 8 characters maximum (Estimated latitude - hex value)
  • Field 11: 8 characters maximum (Estimated longitude - hex value)
  • Field 12: 8 characters maximum (Estimated altitude - hex value)
